For years people have been asking me: “Do you have a Web site?” At first this question was met with the same glassy look I usually reserve for my brother-in-law when he starts talking about auto mechanics or plumbing (“What? I have a serpentine belt? Who knew?”) But as time has gone on and I have written more columns and a few books, I can see the wisdom of having a site where I can post information that may be relevant — or at least moderately interesting — to those who have read or heard about the things that I’ve written. So . . . here it is — for whatever it’s worth!
Putting this together has been a labor of love for my technologically fluent daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Brian Grimmett, who we lovingly refer to as the BG’s, and I thank them for the hours and hours of work and research time they have invested in this. I also thank them for making the color of the website predominantly blue, which was pretty much the extent of my input.
It’s still a bit of a work in progress, and there will be tweaks and adjustments along the way (except for the color — I really like blue). Right now, for example, we only have accounted here for about half of the 1,100-plus ValueSpeak columns that I have written. We’ll be adding most of the rest as we go along, assuming we can figure out a way to scan the stone tablets upon which the earliest columns were chiseled (did I mention that I’ve been doing this a long time?). If you see any errors or have any suggestions, please let me know. The whole point of doing this is making it useful and interesting for you.
